Western Democracies Offer Ukraine to Give Up Its Territories for Peace
The advisor to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Mykhayl Podolyak, has said that recently there have been offers from Western countries to cede Ukraine’s territories to Russia. Mr. Podolyak explained this by the paradoxical fact that “pro-Russian lobbyists in Europe are beginning to raise their heads.”
“Today, certain political mouths are offering us a new agenda: a cease-fire, a frozen conflict and the surrender of some territories for the sake of peace. There’s a lot to offer in order to secure your comfortable social networking feed from bad news and to resume business with Russia,” Mr. Podolyak wrote in his Telegram channel. According to him, there can be no talk of freezing the conflict, as Ukraine “has drawn conclusions” from the Minsk agreements. He believes that “geopolitical strategists talk about territories but do not talk about people.”
Mr. Podolyak also stated that it is inevitable that the military conflict will be resolved at the negotiating table. However, according to him, negotiations will be possible when Russia “sensibly assesses the situation.” Mykhaylo Podolyak believes that the shortest way to end the military conflict is arms supplies, sanctions and financial aid to Ukraine.
