Vladimir Putin announced his decision to run for president in 2024. This important announcement was made in the Kremlin’s St. George Hall, where Putin was presenting awards to participants of the “special military operation” in Ukraine. After the ceremony of awarding Gold Star medals to Heroes of Russia, one of the participants “asked” Vladimir Putin to run for president in 2024. The others acceded to the request. The president agreed.

“Make no mistake, I had all kinds of thoughts on this matter at different times. However, you are right — the time to decide has come. I will run for President of the Russian Federation.”

On December 6, the Federation Council scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. For the first time in history, they will be held on three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
