Sustainable Development and Bitter Truth Behind It

I am sitting in one of the best cafes in central Moscow. The area is quite expensive because of the high concentration of government offices, state owned corporations and banks. The FSB building is just in front, on the opposite side of Lubyanka Square. The office of the Presidential Administration is a ten-minute walk away.

There is a gentleman sitting at the table next to me. He is from Sweden and is an expert in sustainable development. He is meeting with another gentleman from the Russian government (someone from the middle administration).

The gentleman from Sweden introduced himself as an experienced consultant and expert in sustainable development and green economy. Sweden is probably the best place to get such expertise. As we know, they recycle almost everything and even buy waste abroad to help other European countries secure their green future. The Swedish system is efficient, proven and sustainable. The Swedish experience, the gentleman argues, would be very useful for Russia.

The purpose of the meeting is implementation of sustainable development programs in Russia and new career prospects. The gentleman from Moscow has many useful acquaintances, formal and informal, in government circles and private corporations.
