Long Journey by Armored Train: Kim Jong-Un’s Visit to Russia
Kim Jong-Un’s visit to Russia, about the necessity of which North Korean Communists have always spoken, has been accomplished. That is how this historic event should be described, to paraphrase Vladimir Lenin. To be more precise, it has not even been accomplished, but completed, as the North Korean leader’s visit lasted a phenomenally long six days. It turned out to be not hard at all to invite Kim Jong-Un to Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin, the hard part was sending him back.
Only on the fifth day of Kim’s stay on the hospitable Russian soil, the Russian Ambassador to the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) Alexander Matsegora informed the astonished journalists:
“The visit is not over yet. Yes, it continues, it is not over yet. It is not yet known when he will leave.”
A rich program was prepared for Kim Jong-Un in the Russian Far East. The North Korean leader arrived in Russia on September 12. The next day, he met with President Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region. Kim’s luxurious armored train spent more than 20 hours on the road, leisurely covering about 1,200 kilometers.
