Absolutely true. I was just surprised that Western democracies missed this possibility to use McDonald’s and other world brands as a “Trojan Horse” to weaken Russian economy and even Putin’s authoritarian regime itself. Paradoxically, in 20 years Putin has turned Russia into a consumer society, which is no less developed here than in the West. A significant change in the quality of consumption and the exit of famous brands can motivate citizens much more than sanctions, which no one understands. McDonald’s is just one example as KFC and Burgerking here still continue to operate.
